High school wrestling: Benton wins Haughton boys tournament; Parkway a close second; Haughton runner-up in girls tournament

The Benton Tigers won the boys division in the Haughton Tournament Saturday.

Benton scored 229 points, edging runner-up Parkway by six. Haughton finished third with 139.5

Six Benton wrestlers won their respective weight classes — Ashton Myers (113), Colton Stratton (132), Lucas Campbell (150), Cooper Reagan (175), Jacob Coston (190) and Myuan Carey (285).

Five Parkway wrestlers won — Devodric Davis (106), Christian Meloling (120), Larry Davis (157), Zayden Normandin (165) and Dylan Mesloh (215),

Haughton’s Will Haun won the 126-pound class.

Brusly’s Kyson Evans (138) and Dylan Ricks (144) were also winners.

Wrestlers from parish schools finishing runner-up were Benton’s Ethan Nolte (113), Parkway’s Brayden Lobrano (132), Haughton’s Beau Hunsucker (157) and Parkway’s Raiden Flores (190).

Haughton finished second in the girls tournament with 65 points. South Beauregard won with 90. Benton was third with 38 and Parkway fifth with 22.

Haughton’s Natalie Davis was the lone winner from a parish school. She went 5-0 in the 126-pound class round Robin, pinning all five of her opponents,

Runners-up from parish schools were Parkway’s Taylor Bacot (114), Benton’s Keira Liesch (145), Haughton’s Destiny Lollar (152) and Haughton’s Brooke Caporossi (185).
