LSU Health Shreveport welcomed Louisiana State University System President Wade Rousse, Ph.D., and James Dalton, Ph.D., Executive Vice President of the LSU System and Chancellor of the Flagship A&M campus in Baton Rouge, for their first official visit to the Shreveport health sciences center campus.
The visit marked an important milestone for LSU Health Shreveport following a recent leadership realignment within the LSU System. The campus, along with LSU Health New Orleans, Pennington Biomedical Research Center and the LSU Ag Center now report directly to Dr. Dalton, a change designed to strengthen system-wide coordination and elevate LSU’s research as one unified flagship campus. This change creates a stronger, more competitive flagship university, capable of joining the ranks of the nation’s Top 50 research universities.
Executive Vice President Dalton engaged with campus leadership, faculty, staff, donors and North Louisiana Legislators to better understand LSU Health Shreveport’s priorities, opportunities, challenges and its critical role in advancing health care education and biomedical research throughout our state.
During their visit, Dr. Rousse and Dr. Dalton addressed faculty and staff during an open discussion held in the Rasberry Auditorium inside the Center for Medical Education Building.
Recognizing the institution’s deep ties to the region, the visit also included meetings with local legislators and community leaders to discuss the unique role LSU Health Shreveport plays in North Louisiana. These conversations highlighted LSUHS’s contribution to healthcare, medical and scientific training, economic development and research innovation.
While in North Louisiana, LSU leadership also visited the LSU-Shreveport campus.
