The Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal (SFM) has arrested a Mansfield man in connection with an intentionally set mobile home fire that damaged a neighboring occupied residence.

On Aug. 5, 2026, State Fire Marshal investigators arrested 45-year-old Terry Smith of Mansfield on one count of Aggravated Arson.

The arrest stems from a fire that occurred shortly after midnight on July 31, 2026, in the 300 block of Shell Street. The DeSoto Parish Fire District 8 requested investigative assistance from the SFM following the fire.

During the investigation, SFM deputies determined the abandoned mobile home had been intentionally set. The fire spread to an adjacent occupied mobile home, causing damage to the residence. No injuries were reported.

The Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office reminds the public that anyone with information regarding fire-related crimes is encouraged to submit an anonymous tip by visiting lasfm.org and selecting the “Arson Fires” icon.
