Generosity was on full display across Northwest Louisiana on Tuesday, May 5, as residents rallied behind local nonprofits during the annual Give for Good campaign presented by the Community Foundation of North Louisiana.
Since its launch in 2014, the 24-hour online giving initiative has become one of the region’s largest philanthropic events, raising more than $22 million for local nonprofit organizations. This year’s campaign continued that tradition, bringing together donors from across the Shreveport-Bossier area to support causes ranging from healthcare and education to child advocacy, animal welfare and the arts.
In 2026, 246 nonprofit organizations benefited from community donations, highlighting the growing impact of the annual event and the continued spirit of generosity throughout North Louisiana.
Organizers say Give for Good serves as more than a single day of fundraising. For many nonprofits, it provides critical unrestricted funding that allows organizations to address immediate needs, expand programs and continue serving the community in ways traditional grants often cannot support.
The event also introduces residents to organizations they may not have previously known about, creating broader awareness of the services and outreach efforts taking place across the region.
Among the participating organizations was Gingerbread House Children’s Advocacy Center, which reported one of its strongest Give for Good campaigns to date.
“We are so thankful to the 158 generous individuals who supported the Gingerbread House Children’s Advocacy Center during Give for Good Day 2026,” said Jessica Milan Miller, chief executive officer of the organization. “We have been participating in Give for Good since its
inception in 2014 and this year we had the most donors we’ve ever had. That, in itself, is a testament to the positive impact the Community Foundation of North Louisiana continues to have in raising awareness about nonprofits in our community through this incredible 24-hour online giving campaign.”
According to Miller, the organization raised more than $20,000 during the campaign. The funds will be used to purchase audiovisual recording equipment to expand the center’s forensic interview program, which serves more than 1,000 children each year.
“THANK YOU NWLA for supporting child abuse victims as they embark on a courageous journey of healing, justice and hope following a disclosure of abuse,” Miller said.
Community leaders say Give for Good has become a defining example of how collective giving can strengthen the region. By setting aside one day each year dedicated entirely to philanthropy, the initiative unites residents around a common goal — improving the quality of life for people throughout North Louisiana.
As donations continued to pour in throughout the day, nonprofits across the area expressed gratitude not only for the financial support, but for the encouragement and visibility the event provides.
More than a fundraiser, Give for Good has evolved into a celebration of community compassion — a reminder that when people come together with a shared purpose, the impact can be felt for years to come.
