Parkway High School’s Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AF JROTC) demonstrated their commitment to community service by raising $1,100 for the Salvation Army. The generous donation was presented to Major Pierre Smith by Cadet Caitlin Orr on behalf of the school and the Rawls family.

The contribution was made in support of the La’Keia Rawls 5k Memorial Run, an annual event held to celebrate La’Keia’s birthday and assist women and families in need of a safe shelter. La’Keia Rawls, daughter of Victoria Rawls from Haughton Middle School, holds a special place in the hearts of many in the community, and the memorial run serves as a tribute to her memory.

Victoria Rawls was present during the check presentation, expressing gratitude for the ongoing support from Parkway High School and the AF JROTC program. The partnership between Parkway and the Salvation Army has spanned many years, with this year’s run marking the 12th installment of the event.

The annual La’Keia Rawls 5k Memorial Run not only commemorates a beloved member of the community but also embodies the spirit of compassion and generosity that Parkway High School and its AF JROTC program strive to uphold. Their dedication to serving others and making a positive impact in the community continues to inspire and uplift those around them.
