The American Red Cross Louisiana Region is on the ground in some of the hardest-hit communities across Avoyelles and St. Landry Parishes, providing critical relief supplies and support to families facing the difficult road to recovery.

As residents begin the daunting cleanup process after historic flooding, the Red Cross is focused on ensuring essential supplies reach those who need them most. The organization is distributing emergency relief items and cleanup kits through multiple channels to maximize reach, including community hubs, partner resource areas, and coordinated mobile deliveries to homes where needs are identified.

“As we identify communities in need, our local workforce and partners help us quickly deliver critical supplies where they’re needed most,” said Karen McCoy, executive director of the American Red Cross North Louisiana Chapter. “Getting help to people as quickly as possible is our priority.”

Relief kits include essential items to help families safely begin cleanup efforts, such as rakes, shovels, brooms, trash bags, multi-purpose cleaner, gloves, bug spray, and sunscreen.

The Red Cross is working hand-in-hand with local agencies and organizations to ensure resources are directed where they are needed most and to support communities as they begin to recover. Volunteers continue to assist residents in heavily impacted areas, including Mansura, Moreauville, Plaucheville, Palmetto, Point Coupee, and communities surrounding Bayou Rouge.

How You Can Help Your Neighbors
The Red Cross relies on the generosity of the public to power its disaster responses. Right now, there are two critical ways to stand with impacted Louisiana families:
