On Saturday, January 31, 2026, the Krewe of Gemini hosted its XXXVII Grand Bal,
“The Greatest Show,” at the Shreveport Convention Center. The black-tie evening blended ancient
Roman festival inspiration with the elegance of a traditional New Orleans–style Mardi Gras tableau,
complete with handcrafted costumes and collars created by New Orleans artisans, theatrical storytelling,
and an evening of celebration, music, and dancing. Surprises including a live opera singing and stunning
table centerpieces delighted guests. Each of the Krewe’s royalty represented a different Roman God or
Goddess.
The centerpiece of the evening was the presentation of the Royal Court of Gemini XXXVII during the
evening’s Tableau, led by Captain Gemini XXXVII, Cole Guthrie (Mars).
He was joined by King Gemini XXXVII, Sam Cooksey (Jupiter), and Queen Gemini XXXVII, Bernie
Bitting (Juno), who reigned over the festivities and were formally presented during the Tableau in a
dramatic walkabout and toast to the guests.
Also presented were the Dukes and Duchesses representing the neighboring states through Roman
mythology:
- Duke of Arkansas, James Pat Patterson and Duchess of Arkansas, Sandy Putman (Pluto and
Persephone) - Duke of Louisiana, Dr. John Reeves and Duchess of Louisiana, Amanda Waddell (Orion and
Diana) - Duke of Texas, Geoff Perego and Duchess of Texas, Kristy Sheffield (Vulcan and Venus)
The Krewe of Gemini Prince and Princesses of Gemini XXXVII were also presented: - Prince Brayden Shields Holspapple
- Princess Sophie Elise Shaw
- Prince William Falls
- Princess Anna Claire Kisner
- Prince Braxton Joseph Holspapple
- Princess Avery Elise Shaw
- Following the Tableau, guests enjoyed live entertainment by The Tin Man Band and DJ Hot Boy Yoshi,
an open bar, and a traditional New Orleans–style breakfast buffet as the celebration continued well into
the night. - For more information about the Krewe of Gemini and its community initiatives, visit
