Volunteers for Youth Justice (VYJ) invites the community to channel their inner hero at the annual CASA Superhero Run, happening Saturday September 20th at Ochsner LSU Heath – St. Mary Medical Center.  This family-friendly event features a 5K, 10K, and fun run—where costumes are encouraged, and every step makes a difference for children in foster care. This year Volunteers for Youth Justice is proud to have Ochsner LSU Health as our presenting sponsor. Their dedication to our community and the families we serve is unwavering.

The CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) program trains and supports community volunteers to speak up for the best interests of children who have experienced abuse or neglect. Proceeds from the Superhero Run directly fund CASA’s mission to ensure every child in foster care has a safe, permanent, and loving home.

“Every child needs a hero, but abused and neglected children need superheroes,” says Patricia Anderson-Alicea, CASA Program Director “By participating in the CASA Superhero Run, you are helping us recruit, train, and support advocates who stand alongside children during some of the most challenging times in their lives.”

The day will be packed with fun for all ages, including:

  • 5K & 10K chip-timed races for competitive runners
  • 1-mile fun run for families, schools, and community groups
  • Community vendors and kids’ activities

Registration is now open at runsignup.com/Race/LA/Shreveport/SuperheroRunforCASA. Early registrants will receive a commemorative race shirt, medal, and goodie bag. Participants are encouraged to form teams, dress in superhero gear, and bring friends and family for a morning of fun, fitness, and community spirit.
