The No. 5 seed Benton Lady Tigers advanced to the second round of the Division I girls playoffs with an 8-0 victory over No. 28 Ponchatoula Friday at Tiger Stadium.
Benton (20-4) will host No. 12 St. Amant Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Tiger Stadium. The Lady Gators defeated No. 21 Live Oak 6-0 in the first round. Benton defeated St. Amant 2-0 in the St. Michael tournament Dec. 13.
Eryn Flowers, Bailey Ware and Eden Whiteman scored two goals apiece for the Lady Tigers. Whiteman had two assists.
Emerie Tanner had one goal and two assists. Bre Knoll had one goal and one assist. Emma Friar, Beloso and Flowers had one assist apiece.
In a Division I boys first-round game, District 1 champion and No. 24 seed Benton fell to No. 9 East Ascension 4-0 in Gonzalez. The Tigers closed their season 12-7-3.
In a Division III girls first-round game, No. 29 Bossier fell to No. 4 University Lab 10-0 in Baton Rouge. The Lady Kats finished 5-12.
In a Division II girls first-round game, No. 16 Parkway (11-7-1) hosts No. 17 Lakeshore (5-10-3) Saturday at 3 at Preston Crownover Stadium.
