Throughout her career, she has served as the Director of the Irving Public Library (2022 – 2026), Managing Director of Little Elm Public Library (2016 – 2022), and Branch Manager and District Manager of the Dallas Public Library (2010 – 2016).  Lynette is also a 2006 American Library Association Spectrum Scholar, a 2014 American Library Association Emerging Leader, and a 2014 graduate of the Texas Library Association’s Texas Accelerated Library Leadership Institute (TALL Texans).

“I am really excited about this opportunity to keep Shreve Memorial Library moving forward,” stated Roberson, adding, “throughout my library career I have focused on ways to incorporate new technologies to meet community needs and provide exceptional service.”

“Her expertise in navigating complex operational landscapes and her reputation for organizational excellence make her the ideal leader to guide our libraries into a new era of innovation and service for all of Caddo Parish,” Howard agreed.

Roberson is passionate about library advocacy, developing community partnerships, and mentoring and training the next generation of library professionals, believing that libraries play a central role in the economic and educational progress and success of their communities. She believes that libraries should be welcoming and inclusive spaces, reflecting the interests, needs and wants of the communities they serve.

Roberson recalled that one of her happiest memories was of her father walking her to their neighborhood library, the David Raines Branch of Shreve Memorial Library, for its summer reading program. “In many ways, Shreve Memorial Library was the library that raised me,” she said.

Lynette will begin her role as Shreve Memorial Library Executive Director on Tuesday, April 7.
