- 8:45 p.m. — Airline vs. Parkway
The Bossier City Lions Club Football Jamboree was first held on Aug. 27, 1954, when eight teams participated in four games. For more than seven decades, the event has remained a signature Bossier Parish tradition, bringing generations of students, families, alumni and football fans together.
Many local residents have memories of participating in or attending the Jamboree during their high school years, making the event an annual tradition for families throughout the parish.
While football is at the center of the Jamboree, the event’s purpose extends well beyond the field.
Proceeds from the Jamboree help support Bossier Parish high schools and football programs while also providing college scholarships for local students.
The Bossier City Lions Club also supports vision-related programs for children, provides eyeglasses to individuals in need and contributes to the Louisiana Lions Eye Foundation and the Louisiana Children’s Camp for children with special needs.
The Jamboree tradition begins before game night with several events recognizing the people who help make high school football possible.
During Jamboree week, the Lions Club hosts a fish fry honoring local football coaches, with an assistant coach recognized for his or her contributions.
The club also hosts the Jamboree Queens Luncheon on the Thursday before the football event. The luncheon celebrates the six Jamboree Queens and their parents.
The Bossier City Lions Club was founded in 1927 and has spent nearly a century supporting the local community through service projects, fundraisers and programs benefiting children, families and those in need.
The club’s work centers on vision care, youth programs and community service, continuing the Lions’ longstanding motto, “We Serve.”
The 73rd Annual High School Football Jamboree will continue that tradition by bringing Bossier Parish together for an evening of high school football while helping raise funds for programs that benefit local students and families.
