Kimberly Janene McKee, 55, was born on June 11, 1971, in Birmingham, Alabama, and passed away peacefully on August 15, 2026.
Kimberly lived her life with an unwavering love for the Lord and with a heart that seemed to have an endless capacity to love others. She was a devoted daughter, mother, sister, aunt, friend, and woman of faith whose life was marked by compassion, generosity, and intentional love.
Kimberly was the most selfless person her daughter, Kristin McKee, had ever known. Her greatest desire was to ensure that Kristin never went through life without knowing what it felt like to be truly loved. Their relationship extended far beyond that of mother and daughter. They were best friends who shared an extraordinary bond built on love, trust, and unwavering devotion.
She loved people intentionally. Kimberly gave of herself freely, cared deeply, and had a remarkable ability to make others feel valued and cherished. Her love extended far beyond her immediate family. She loved her nieces and nephews as though they were her own children, and the love she poured into their lives will continue to shape them for years to come. She never measured love by titles or family titles. If you were part of her family, you were part of her heart.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse, Kimberly found a profession that perfectly reflected her compassionate spirit. Caring for others was not simply a career for her; it was an expression of who she was. Her kindness and concern for others were evident in every area of her life.
Above all else, Kimberly loved the Lord with all her heart. She was a faithful member of Airline Baptist Church, where her relationship with Christ remained the foundation of her life. Her faith shaped the way she loved, served, and cared for others. Her favorite passage of Scripture, Matthew 6:25-27, reflected the trust she placed in God throughout her life:
“Therefore I tell you, don’t worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothing? Consider the birds of the sky: They don’t sow or reap or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you worth more than they?”
Kimberly’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her beloved daughter and best friend, Kristin McKee, and Kristin’s fiancĂ©, Thomas Yates, whom Kimberly loved and welcomed as family. She is also survived by her parents, Elizabeth and Michael McKee; her brother, John McKee (Chelsea); her sisters, Jennifer McKee Young (Terry), and Sarah McKee Guice (Joey); her nieces, Ashley Stowell (Matthew) and McKenzie Campbell (Adam); her nephews, Joseph Guice, Carson Young, John Thomas Young, John Michael McKee, Jeremiah Guice, Jackson McKee, and Jameson McKee; her niece, Sadie McKee; her niece, Sophie McKee; and many other extended family members and dear friends.
Those who knew Kimberly will always remember her vibrant personality and the things that brought her joy. She loved all things purple, glittery, and neon. She enjoyed shopping, sweet coffee, and spending time with her beloved FAT cat, Mufasa. These small but unforgettable details will continue to bring smiles to those who loved her.
Kimberly’s life was a testimony to the power of intentional love. She loved deeply, gave generously, and never allowed the people she cared about to question whether they mattered to her. Her greatest legacy is not simply the life she lived, but the love she shared so freely that it will continue through every person blessed to have known her.
Though she will be deeply missed, Kimberly’s love will never leave those who carry it with them. Her faith, her kindness, her laughter, and the countless ways she made others feel loved will remain forever.
She loved the Lord with everything she had, and she loved her people just as deeply.
