Kennedy announces $14.2 million for Louisiana HBCUs

 Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $14.2 million in U.S. Department of Education funding for six Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in Louisiana.

“Education is the key to unlocking Louisiana’s future. This $14.2 million will help our HBCUs give students the knowledge and skills they need to succeed and build a better future right here in our state,” said Kennedy.

The U.S. Department of Education will provide funding for the following:

• $1,535,355 for Dillard University.

• $2,886,853 for Grambling State University.

• $1,476,067 for Southern University – Shreveport.

• $3,281,192 for Southern University A&M College.

• $2,513,428 for Southern University at New Orleans.

• $2,513,428 for Xavier University.

The funding will support Louisiana’s HBCUs as they educate students, strengthen the state’s workforce and expand economic opportunity for Louisianians.
