Bossier City Spotlight: I-20 westbound not to close

As we shine the “Spotlight” on local issues of interest let’s get an official update on the I-20 construction. Over the last week it was prematurely reported in error by a local T.V. station that I-20 Westbound would be completely closed. This information was not accurate. That plan had been discussed but when it was evaluated closer and when the potential impact to our local businesses was considered that idea was taken off the table.

This pro-business decision was a result of collaborative efforts between Mayor Chandler, our Bossier Chamber, Sheriff and local legislators. It is fair to say that they all did a “good job” looking out for the best interest of the citizens and businesses of Bossier.

There are still community meetings to be held for the Charter Commission. There have been two meetings already, one at Hooter Park and the other at Shady Grove both were productive and well attended. If you would like to provide input and have your voice heard on concerns of the Bossier City Charter the next meeting will be Tuesday, Feb. 27th at the Bossier Parish Instructional Center.

The Charter identifies the guidelines for Bossier City Government, it is often referred to as the City’s Constitution. Bossier City has been excited to welcome several conferences and conventions to our city over the past week, they include the Louisiana Professional Firefighters and the Building and Construction Central Trades and Labor Council. Each event was well attended and each group said that they would definitely come to Bossier again.

Also on Tues. the 27th you are welcome to attend the North Bossier Luncheon held each week to network with local businesses and concerned and involved Citizens. The luncheon will be held at noon at BPTLS and this month’s speaker will be Ms. K.C. Kilpatrick she is the founder of Geaux 4 kids. Ms. Kilpatrick is a respected and passionate leader and she will share her mission with the group.

We want to remind everyone that Chick-Fil-A has re-opened after a great renovation and everyone is welcome to come and enjoy a great meal.

Mayor Chandler attended and assisted in the ribbon cutting of the newest Cigar Experience in our area… Club Macanado is now known as “Club Mac.” Whether you are a casual cigar smoker or a seasoned Aficionada you will enjoy the excellence of “Club Mac.” Club Macanado is located on the second floor in Margaritaville, when you get a chance please come and enjoy… light’em if you got’em. We have enjoyed a week of great weather in our area over the last week. Spring fever has not yet sprung but it’s safe to say that it’s not very far away. This week is supposed to be nice as well. As of now, you are up to date and Thanks for checking out… “The Spotlight.”
