The Bossier Parish Police Jury addressed a wide-ranging agenda during its regular meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 4, taking action on property standards enforcement, zoning and land-use matters, and several administrative and infrastructure items affecting the parish.
A significant portion of the meeting focused on properties cited for unsafe structures, excessive debris, and poor maintenance. Jurors reviewed the status of multiple cases and granted 30-day extensions to property owners who demonstrated meaningful progress toward compliance. For properties where owners failed to respond or show improvement, the Jury approved formal condemnation, citing concerns for public safety and neighborhood conditions.
The Jury also heard an informational presentation introducing the Louisiana Rouxgaroux Arena Football Team. Team owner Keith Carter and General Manager Steve Walton outlined plans for the Rouxgaroux to play home games at Brookshire Grocery Arena, discussing league operations, player recruitment, community outreach, and potential economic benefits to the parish. No action was required following the presentation.
Several zoning and land-use requests were considered during the meeting. Jurors approved a request to rezone a tract of land from Residential Agriculture (RA) to General Business (B-2) to allow for a self-service ice vending machine. In addition, public hearings were scheduled for March 18, 2026, to consider a conditional use permit for off-premises alcohol sales at the Super S convenience store and a zoning amendment to reclassify a 9.6-acre tract from RA to B-3 for office, warehouse, and retail development.
Administrative and infrastructure matters were also addressed. The Jury approved annual liquor license renewals following required verification by the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office and parish health units. Variance requests involving construction below road grade were approved after review by parish engineers, and streets and drainage in Canal Place Unit 5 were formally accepted into the parish road maintenance system.
Jurors approved funding and change orders for ongoing water, sewer, and library projects, accepted grant administration services for federal Department of Transportation applications, and adopted a support resolution for a BUILD grant tied to the East-West Corridor initiative.
Additional actions included acknowledgment of recent annexations by neighboring municipalities, ordering an election for the renewal of the Benton Fire District No. 4 special tax, and approval of a $1.5 million campground grant project aimed at supporting local recreation and tourism.
The meeting reflected the Jury’s continued focus on public safety, infrastructure improvement, and responsible growth throughout Bossier Parish.
