Thousands of canned goods, donated by Brookshire’s and collected by students, are on the way to the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office food pantry after being used in the iCANstruction building competition during Bossier Schools’ i3 Art Expo.

Students were challenged to build structures made from a starter pack of canned goods and to collect additional cans to build even bigger structures.

More than 55-hundred canned goods were donated today to fight food insecurity in Bossier Parish. Sheriff’s deputies say the sizable amount of canned items will carry them through the end of the year, resulting in a significant savings.

It’s a win all the way around. Students learned about the principles of engineering, math and art during the competition while fighting hunger at the same time.
