Bossier Parish Schools Superintendent Jason Rowland has been recognized on the national stage, earning a place on the National School Public Relations Association’s (NSPRA) 2025 “Superintendents to Watch” list.

Rowland is one of only 25 superintendents across the United States selected for the prestigious designation, which honors forward-thinking district leaders who are making communication and community engagement a cornerstone of their work. All recipients have served in their superintendent roles for fewer than five years; Rowland was appointed in 2024.

According to NSPRA, the award highlights superintendents who are leveraging innovative technology, fostering transparency, and building strong relationships within their school communities.

Since taking the helm of Bossier Parish Schools, Rowland has emphasized communication, professionalism, and collaboration as guiding principles of his administration.

“Our core principles are based around professionalism, collaboration, but more so communication,” Rowland said. “For us to be great communicators—not only to our staff and students but also to the community—is very important to me.”

Among his standout initiatives is the “Monday Morning Memo,” a weekly staff newsletter that combines motivational messages with timely updates. He also launched the district’s bi-weekly podcast, “On the Record with Bossier Schools,” which offers insight into district initiatives, interviews with educators, and updates from across the parish.

“Any type of award that comes out of this, that was never the intent. It’s just a byproduct of who we are and what we do,” Rowland added. “None of these things are possible without a great team. None of this happens in isolation. None of this happens in a vacuum.”

Rowland said the district’s communication strategy continues to evolve as needs grow and lessons are learned. “The more we do, the more we learn, and the more we learn, the more we are able to produce,” he said. “Hopefully, the things we provide for our school system set us apart from others in the way we communicate and anticipate communication.”

The recognition from NSPRA shines a national spotlight on Bossier Parish Schools’ efforts to strengthen community ties and enhance transparency through innovative leadership.
