In response to the tragic events that occurred in Shreveport’s Cedar Grove neighborhood on April 19, the Biomedical Research Foundation of Northwest Louisiana is redirecting its annual Give for Good campaign to support relief and prevention efforts connected to the incident.

This year’s initiative will focus on two funds administered by the Community Foundation of North Louisiana, aimed at providing both immediate and long-term assistance to those affected.

The April 19 Survivors Fund has been established to assist victims and families impacted by the tragedy, while the April 19 Memorial Fund to Prevent Domestic Violence will provide continued support for survivors of domestic violence and promote prevention efforts throughout the region.

Early giving for the campaign is already underway and will continue through May 5. Organizers are encouraging community members to participate in the effort as a way to support healing and recovery.

The redirection of funds reflects a coordinated effort to respond to urgent community needs while also addressing broader issues related to domestic violence. Leaders say the approach ensures that both immediate relief and long-term support systems are in place.

The Biomedical Research Foundation of Northwest Louisiana continues its broader mission of advancing economic development and fostering a resilient, diversified economy in the Shreveport-Bossier area, while also supporting initiatives that strengthen the community during times of need.
