High school boys track and field: Airline’s Boudreaux, Benton’s Malley win titles in 5A state meet; three Parkway athletes finish runner-up

Airline senior Jeremiah Boudreaux and Benton junior Miller Malley won titles in the Class 5A boys division in the Ochsner LHSAA Outdoor Track & Field State Meet Saturday at LSU.

Boudreaux won the 300-meter hurdles and Malley won the pole vault.

Boudreaux’s time was 36.76 seconds. He finished 1.34 seconds ahead of runner-up Dylan Evans of Scotlandville.

Boudreaux also finished third in the 110 hurdles in 13.95. Scotlandville’s Broderick Davis won in 13.78.

Malley cleared 14 feet, 11 1/2 inches on his first attempt. West Ouachita’s Slade Sanford was second with a 14-5 1/2.

Parkway finished fifth in the team competition with 31 points. Airline was seventh with 25. Benton tied for eighth with 22. Scotlandville won with 76.

Three Parkway athletes posted runner-up finishes.

Freshman Brennan Robin was second in the 1,600 in 4:14.76. Jesuit’s Michael Vocke won in a class record 4:12.33. It was his fourth straight title in the event.

Devon Oliver took second in the discus with a throw of 172-8. Alexandria’s Douglas Hunter Rivet won with a 179-0. The pair reversed their finish in the Region I-5A meet. Oliver was fifth in the shot put with a 50-5 1/2. Barbe’s Michael Fulton won with a 55-6 1/2.

Senior Will Achee was second in the 400 in 47.19. He finished just .06 behind John Curtis’ King Taylor. Achee was seventh in the 200.

Benton seniors Marc Perry and Jeffery King made the awards stand with third-place finishes.

Perry went 46-7 1/2 in the triple jump. Scotlandville’s Ferzell Shepard won with a 48-8 3/4.

King threw 192-3 in the javelin, almost 10 feet farther than his second-place distance last year. Catholic’s Paul Catalanatto won with a 205-9.

The Airline foursome of Boudreaux, Lathan Woodland, Phillip Hughes and Gabe Laval finished fourth in the 4×400 relay in 3:18.70. Catholic won in 3:15.85.

The Parkway foursome of Achee, Gabriel Falting, Brody Hochter and Robin was sixth in 3:22.10.

Falting was fifth in the 800 in 1:55.97. He finished .71 behind third-place Brandt Blanchard of Jesuit and 1.94 behind winner Kyzer Dunbar of St. Augustine.

The Parkway foursome of Jesus Cordova, Alex Gomez, Gary Smith and Falting was fifth in the 4X800 relay in 8:03.92. Central Lafourche won in 7:56.85.
