The Airline Lady Vikings won their fourth straight Tuesday, and the Benton Lady Tigers knocked off defending non-select Division V State champ Converse.
Airline defeated Northwood 4-1 at Northwood, and Benton downed Converse 5-1 at Benton.
At Northwood, Emily Rachal pitched a four-hitter. She struck out 10 and walked only one.
Elena Heng went 2-for-3 with a triple. Madalynn Shortridge went 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI.
Aubrey Jeane had an RBI double with two outs in the top of the third. Jeane scored on an error to give Airline the 4-1 lead. Kemora Guidry had a triple.
Airline, now 5-2 under first-year head coach Mark Lambert, visits Stanley Thursday.
At Benton, Ava Defee pitched a three-hitter with 14 strikeouts and only two walks.
Converse’s Avery Prine, a first-team Class B All-State selection last year, allowed only four hits and struck out 10 with three walks.
Benton’s Ashley Promes had a two-run home run. Emersyn Disotell had an RBI-triple.
Olivia Livers and Christina Gegg had one hit each.
Benton (2-1) is playing in the North DeSoto tournament which begins Friday.
At Parkway, the Lady Panthers’ Allanah Wilson hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the first. But Parkway got only two other hits off Avery Creech, who struck out 15 and walked only two.
Madison Menard had a double. Macee Thompson went the distance. She recorded seven strikeouts.
Parkway (0-5) hosts Many Thursday.
