Two Airmen stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base officially became United States citizens during a naturalization ceremony held Tuesday morning, July 15, at Hoban Hall.
The event, hosted in partnership with U.S. Customs and Immigration Service, marked a significant moment for the Airmen, who were honored not only for their military service but also for their personal commitment to becoming American citizens.
United States Magistrate Judge Mark Hornsby of the Western District of Louisiana presided over the ceremony and administered the oath of allegiance. Col. Michael Maginness, commander of the 2d Bomb Wing, opened the event with remarks recognizing the Airmen’s dedication to both the U.S. Air Force and the nation they now officially call home.
The new citizens are:
Airman 1st Class Atson Nameta, 2d Logistics Readiness Squadron
Airman 1st Class Tykhon Alexandrov Rudenok, 12th Combat Air Base Squadron
Fellow service members and Barksdale leadership were in attendance to support and celebrate the milestone. The ceremony highlighted the continued contributions of immigrant Airmen to the strength and diversity of the U.S. military.
Naturalization ceremonies are regularly held on military installations across the country and represent a proud tradition of honoring the service and sacrifice of those who choose to serve their adopted homeland.
