High school football: Bossier notches third victory; Plain Dealing falls

The regular season is just halfway over and the Bossier Bearkats have already surpassed last season’s victory total.

Bossier defeated Southwood 27-12 in a District 1-4A game Friday night at Independence Stadium.

Bossier improved to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in district. The Bearkats officially won three games last season but one of those was a forfeit.

The victory total is also the most in a season since 2021 when the Bearkats went 6-5 under Head Coach De’Aumante Johnson, who is now Southwood’s head coach. 

Southwood dropped to 2-2 and 0-2.

Bossier quarterback Montrevell Lewis continued to show that he is one of the area’s best players.

He rushed for 182 yards on 24 carries and scored two touchdowns. He also completed 10-of-13 passes for 115 yards and two touchdowns.

For the season, Lewis has accounted for 1,556 total yards (753 rushing, 803 passing) rushed 22 touchdowns (17 rushing, five passing.

The Bossier defense played a solid game.

Bossier hosts Loyola College Prep Thursday.  The Flyers (5-0, 2-0) defeated Minden 71-48 Friday night.

Glenbrook 50, Plain Dealing 0: The Apaches proved too much for the Lions to handle in the District 1-1A game in Minden.

Plain Dealing dropped to 0-4 overall and 0-3 in district. Glenbrook improved to 3-2 and 2-1.

Plain Dealing travels to Ruston Friday to take on Cedar Creek. The Cougars (3-2, 1-0) fell to Delta Charter 36-31 in a non-district game Friday night.
