Sheriff Julian Whittington announced today that the Bossier Parish Medium Security
Facility has successfully received recertification under the State of Louisiana’s Basic Jail
Guidelines. This comes to light following its annual monitoring inspection conducted by
the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections.
The inspection confirmed that the facility was fully compliant with all applicable state
standards, reflecting a continued commitment to safety, accountability, and professional
correctional operations.
During the audit, inspectors noted several areas of strength that included:
Clean, orderly and well-maintained housing areas and common spaces
Effective inmate accountability, classification, and count procedures
Proper oversight and use of restricted housing
Timely and well documented maintenance practices
Strong inmate programming and grievance processes
High levels of staff professionalism, training, and morale
Sheriff Whittington emphasized that maintaining certification is both a professional
obligation and a public trust. He commented, “We take seriously our duty to the citizens
of Bossier Parish to operate a safe, secure, and well-managed correctional facility. We
also recognize our responsibility to those entrusted to our care. Maintaining a clean,
organized facility staffed by well trained professionals is essential to meeting both of
those obligations, and this certification affirms that commitment.”
Sheriff Whittington commended Assistant Chief Kesha Evans, Major Brad Anderson,
Captain Scott Crawford, and the entire Corrections Division for their leadership and
dedication. He noted that these results are achieved through daily attention to detail,
accountability, and professionalism at every level of the organization.
