Women from across the region gathered Wednesday, April 15, for an afternoon of encouragement, connection and purpose during the Ladies who L.U.N.C.H. (Learning United to Nurture Community & Hope) event hosted at The Simple Church.
Held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church’s location along the Louisiana Boardwalk, the event focused on uplifting women while raising support for children facing crisis situations. Attendees enjoyed a thoughtfully curated experience that included lunch, a lemonade bar, boutique pop-up shopping, a small bouquet of flowers and a special gift.
The program featured keynote speaker Sara McDaniel, a Minden native and founder of Simply Southern Cottage. McDaniel is widely known for her work in historic preservation and community revitalization, having transformed a once-abandoned motel in Minden into a vibrant space for tourism, small business development and storytelling. Through her work, she has become an advocate for restoring forgotten places and inspiring others to invest in their communities.
Drawing from her personal and professional journey, McDaniel shared a message centered on resilience, creativity and purpose, encouraging attendees to use their talents to make a difference in the lives of others and themselves.
Organizers said the event’s mission is rooted in both fellowship and service — bringing women together not only to be encouraged, but also to support meaningful causes that impact local families.
Proceeds from the luncheon will benefit the Gingerbread House Child Advocacy Center, an organization dedicated to providing advocacy, support and resources for children affected by abuse and trauma.
Through events like Ladies who L.U.N.C.H., The Simple Church continues its efforts to foster community involvement and compassion, creating opportunities for individuals to come together in support of those most in need.
