The Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles has been honored as the winner of three awards in the 2026 American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators’ (AAMVA) Awards Program. AAMVA’s awards program fosters a tradition of excellence in the motor vehicle and law enforcement community by honoring individuals, teams, and organizations who have committed their time and resources to safety initiatives, outstanding customer service, and public affairs and consumer educational programs throughout North America. This year, AAMVA received over 360 submissions for awards in 23 different categories.

Louisiana OMV was selected as a winner of the following awards:

Communications Award: Advertising – Human Trafficking Awareness Campaign

Beginning in January 2025, OMV launched a comprehensive advertising campaign to inform drivers of the signs of human trafficking and how to report it. The campaign targeted major events like Super Bowl LIX and Mardi Gras. From January 27, 2025, to March 31, 2025, the OMV Human Trafficking Awareness Campaign garnered over 73 million impressions from digital billboards, video geofencing, Gas Pump television ads, Meta ads and other platforms.

Communications Award: Persuasive Writing – REAL ID Ready

On February 7, 2025, OMV distributed a press release to inform and remind Louisiana residents they would be required to have a REAL ID or an acceptable alternative to fly domestically or enter federal facilities beginning on May 7, 2025. Many media outlets across the state aired the vital information on their local television newscasts and websites. By May 2, 2025, more than 1.2 million Louisiana residents had obtained a REAL ID driver’s license or identification card.

Service Award: Community Service – REAL ID Saturdays

From October 12, 2024, to May 3, 2025, the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) opened several customer service centers in metropolitan areas across the state on Saturdays to help residents obtain a REAL ID ahead of the May 7, 2025, enforcement date. The Saturday openings made it more convenient to residents who were unable to visit a customer service center during normal business hours. OMV was able to assist more than 5,000 Louisiana residents in obtaining a REAL ID during these special Saturday openings.

“These honors serve as a benchmark for our unwavering commitment to serving our residents with integrity and innovation,” OMV Commissioner Keith E. Neal said. “While we are proud of this recognition, we view these accolades not as a finish line, but as fuel to continue moving the agency forward. By embracing modern solutions and community-focused strategies, we remain dedicated to elevating the standard of customer service for every resident we serve.”
