The Bossier Parish Police Jury welcomed its newest member this week as Lynn Beaty, a lifelong resident of Haughton and longtime business owner, was officially sworn in as Police Juror for District 1 during the regular agenda meeting held Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the Bossier Parish Courthouse.
Judge Jeff Thompson administered the oath of office, marking the beginning of Beaty’s tenure following his election in October. He succeeds the late Bob Brotherton, a respected public servant whose years of dedication to the parish were fondly remembered during the ceremony.
Before Beaty’s swearing-in, Jury President Glenn Benton presented Kim Gaspard with a plaque recognizing his service to District 1. Gaspard had represented the district from January 25 to October 1, 2025, stepping in to honor Brotherton’s legacy and ensure continuity in parish representation.
Beaty brings more than four decades of professional and community experience to his new role. He is the founder of Beaty Logging, established in 1977, and is also known for co-hosting the outdoor television series The Way It Was, which celebrated Louisiana’s natural beauty, heritage, and traditional values.
District 1 covers the southern portions of Bossier Parish and extends north through Haughton. As he assumes office, Beaty emphasized his commitment to improving local infrastructure, strengthening public safety, supporting law enforcement, and encouraging responsible growth throughout the parish.
“I’m honored to serve the people of District 1 and continue the legacy of leadership and service that Bob Brotherton exemplified,” Beaty said following his swearing-in. “I look forward to working with my fellow jurors to keep Bossier Parish strong and moving forward.”
The ceremony, held during the regularly scheduled Police Jury meeting, was attended by jurors, parish officials, and community members who welcomed Beaty into his new role with warm applause.
