Smiles, hugs, and heartfelt gratitude filled the air Tuesday morning as community members, hospital staff, and local leaders gathered for the grand opening and ribbon cutting of the new Ronald McDonald House Shreveport-Bossier. The celebration, held on October 28, 2025, marked a major milestone for Northwest Louisiana families with children receiving medical care away from home.

Located at 9100 Susan Drive, just behind Willis-Knighton South, the new facility will serve as a “home away from home” for families facing one of life’s most difficult challenges — having a seriously ill or injured child in the hospital.

The event drew a large crowd of supporters, including hospital representatives, volunteers, and families who have been touched by the mission of the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). The ribbon cutting signified not just the completion of a new building, but the beginning of a vital new chapter of compassionate care for families across the region.

The Shreveport-Bossier house is part of Ronald McDonald House Arkansas & North Louisiana, a locally funded and operated 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Since its founding in 1981, the organization has served more than 67,000 families through its programs in Central and Northwest Arkansas. Its mission remains steadfast: to provide comfort, support, and resources that remove barriers, strengthen families, and promote healing when children need healthcare.

The new Shreveport-Bossier location will provide a warm and welcoming environment where parents and siblings can stay close to their hospitalized children — at no cost. It features family-style bedrooms, communal kitchens, play areas, and quiet spaces for reflection and rest.

For many families, the Ronald McDonald House offers far more than a place to sleep. It provides community, understanding, and a sense of stability during uncertain times.

The Shreveport-Bossier location joins an expanding network of care in the region. The Ronald McDonald House Family Room at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe is set to open in Spring 2026, and another Ronald McDonald House at Baptist Health Little Rock is scheduled to open in Summer 2026.

As the ribbon fell and the doors officially opened, the moment symbolized years of effort and generosity from countless donors, volunteers, and community partners who helped make the project a reality.

Families will begin moving in shortly, marking the start of what organizers hope will be decades of service and support to families from across Louisiana and beyond.
