The Bossier Arts Council (BAC) celebrated a major milestone on Thursday, July 17, marking 45 years of providing arts access, education, and resources to the Northwest Louisiana community.

To commemorate the occasion, the council hosted a “45 Years Birth Day” celebration at its downtown Bossier City location from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The free public event featured a 45 record painting party and a lively social gathering designed to blend creativity, nostalgia, and community engagement.

Attendees painted vintage vinyl records, mingled with local artists and art lovers, and enjoyed an evening of music and conversation—all in the spirit of celebrating BAC’s long-standing commitment to the arts.

“Celebrating 45 years is celebrating community, creativity, and growth. The mission remains the same: to connect people to art, support arts education, and support the local creative community that contributes to Bossier and the world beyond it,” said Brittainy Pope, Executive Director of the Bossier Arts Council.

Since its founding in 1979, the Bossier Arts Council has played a central role in fostering the local arts scene, offering support across a wide range of disciplines including visual arts, theater, public art projects, educational programming, festivals, and exhibitions. The organization also works to empower artists through financial initiatives and professional development opportunities.

Over the past four and a half decades, BAC has grown into a hub for artistic expression and cultural development, serving both children and adults through its accessible programs and strong community partnerships.

Thursday’s celebration served not only as a birthday party but also as a heartfelt reflection on the council’s enduring mission to enrich Bossier Parish through the arts.
