Providence Classical Academy (PCA) celebrated a joyful milestone Friday, August 22, with the dedication of its brand-new $4 million gymnasium — a project that symbolizes both God’s provision and the school’s continued growth.
Before the dedication service, the entire student body gathered for a meaningful tradition: seniors proudly took the hands of Kindergarteners and walked them to the new gym. The moment highlighted the heart of PCA’s mission — shaping students from their very first steps in education to their final year of preparation before graduation, bound together in faith and community.
Construction on the gym began in January 2024 after initially being cut from PCA’s high school project in 2022 due to rising costs. Thanks to the generosity of donors, the vision was restored and made reality.
Head of School Howard Davis reflected on the journey of Providence since its founding in 2005.
“My wife Melissa and I started Providence with 17 students, a committed group of teacher-moms, and a vision for seeing students loved deeply to inspire them to love learning and to love the Lord,” Davis said. “Now 20 years later, we are truly blown away at how God has provided — not just funding and facilities, but incredible staff and teachers who embody the character and virtue we long for our students. More than anything, we are amazed at how God is shaping our students and graduates to genuinely love Him and others.”
During the first chapel of the school year, students and staff prayed together over the gym, dedicating the space as a place where future generations will gather, compete, and grow in both character and community.
The gymnasium is just one step in PCA’s ongoing expansion. Davis shared that the next phase includes developing full athletic fields — baseball, softball, and soccer with a track — followed by plans for an Arts Center featuring a 500-seat theater.
Looking ahead to the new school year, Davis challenged students to use their blessings wisely.
“With great gifts comes great responsibility,” he told them. “God has richly blessed our students with an incredible environment and an incredible education so that you will leverage your lives for His glory and for the good of others and our community.”
From 17 students in 2005 to hundreds today, Providence Classical Academy continues to grow in size, vision, and impact — one step at a time, from Kindergarten handholds to senior strides.
