The Bossier Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation and presented by Bossier Parish Community College, is bringing the 2026 National Civics Bee to Bossier Parish.
The application deadline has been extended to February 17, 2026. Applications can be submitted online using the link here: https://tinyurl.com/bd4vbbj7
Each year, middle school students across the country compete head-to-head by demonstrating their civics knowledge. This is initially done through written essays submitted by students. If selected, students then have the opportunity to compete in live events at local, state, and national levels.
First place in the National Championship will receive $100,000 in an educational savings plan contribution.
“The Civics Bee provides an excellent opportunity for Bossier students to showcase their understanding of civic principles, strengthen their writing and public speaking skills, and engage in thoughtful discussions,” said Lisa Johnson, President/CEO of the Bossier Chamber. “The Civics Bee helps our students develop the confidence and skills to become active, informed citizens. I strongly encourage families and teachers of middle school students to participate in our local Civics Bee,”
The regional competition for Bossier students will be on May 14, 2026. Finalists from in-person competitions will advance to the National Championship in Washington, D.C., for a chance to win cash prizes, scholarships, and school funding.
Students in grades 6-8 can submit their written essays from now until February 17, 2026, by visiting https://tinyurl.com/bd4vbbj7. To learn more about the National Civics Bee, go to nationalcivicsbee.org.
