On Friday, Feb. 13, Mayor Tommy Chandler issued a public statement addressing ongoing concerns surrounding the Bossier Arts Council’s management and financial reporting.
The statement follows recent findings related to the organization’s reporting practices and comes ahead of a scheduled discussion at the upcoming Bossier City Council meeting.
“I am aware of the value and contributions that the Arts provides for our Community,” Chandler said. “I appreciate and support the Arts in Bossier City; however, any organization that will be supported and represents the Arts in Bossier is expected and required to be accountable, compliant and properly managed.”
The mayor confirmed that the status of the Bossier Arts Council will be placed on the agenda for discussion during Tuesday’s Bossier City Council meeting.
The arts council, which has served the community for decades, operates out of the Old Municipal Building at 630 Barksdale Blvd. and has long been considered a cultural anchor in the city. In recent days, public attention has focused on concerns involving management and reporting compliance.
City officials have indicated that Tuesday’s meeting will provide an opportunity for council members to review the situation and discuss potential next steps.
As the discussion approaches, the future direction of the Bossier Arts Council and its relationship with the city remains under consideration. Additional information is expected following the City Council’s review.
