Learn about Closed Party Primary Elections at Bossier Chamber Public Policy Series Event

Louisiana has implemented a new voting method in 2026 which will directly impact how you go to the polls for the May 16 election.

Unlike Louisiana’s previous open primary elections, in a closed-party primary election, the candidates on a voter’s ballot will be limited to those of the voter’s party affiliation. No Party voters who choose to participate in the Closed-Party Primary will be able to select a party’s ballot at their polling place and must stay with that party through any necessary runoff.

The Bossier Chamber is hosting Laura Seabaugh, Deputy Secretary of State, Constituent Services, for a free informational event about how we can prepare for the Closed Party Primaries.

Who: Bossier Chamber of Commerce with Laura Seabaugh
What: Closed Party Primaries Made Easy
When: April 9 at 3:00 p.m.
Where: Bossier Central Library, 7204 Hutchison Dr., Bossier City

The event on April 9 will be the third event of the Bossier Chamber’s 2026 Public Policy Series lineup and will include light refreshments and an informative presentation from Laura Seabaugh, Deputy Secretary of State, Constituent Services.

The Bossier Chamber’s Public Policy series aims to inform and connect Bossier Chamber members with officials at the federal and state levels through educational events. These events allow attendees to hear from experts about what’s really going on in Louisiana’s government and policies, learn about how our tax dollars are being spent and where changes have been taking place.

This series was made possible thanks to presenting sponsor Willis Knighton Health and supporting sponsors Barksdale Federal Credit Union, Ochsner LSU Health, and Expand Energy.
