Natalie Brown Gates Burr

Natalie Brown Gates Burr, 96 went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, where she was reunited with family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 1, 2024, at Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Chapel, 943 Polk Street, Mansfield, Louisiana. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, from noon until time of service at Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home. Brother Ricky McDonald will be officiating with Brother Tommy Patton assisting. Interment for family and friends will follow at the Mitchell Cemetery, Sistrunk Loop, Mitchell, Louisiana.

She was born October 14, 1927, to Carlton Brown and Eva Phillips in Caledonia, Mississippi. Natalie attended Stephen Lee High School in Columbus, Mississippi where she graduated in 1945. After graduation she began work for the telephone company. She retired with 30 years of service from Bell South Telephone Services in 1978 and resided in Naborton until the death of her husband Clifton. After her second marriage to Garthel L. Burr she lived in the Catuna Community. She spent the last seven years of her life at Brookdale Senior Living and Cypress Point Nursing and Rehab, both in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Natalie was preceded in death by her parents Carlton and Eva Brown; brother, James, and spouses, Clifton Travis Gates and Garthel L. Burr.

She is survived by daughters, Theresa Gates Spears and husband Jim; Myra Gates Odum and husband John; brother, Jack D. Brown (Papa Jack); four grandchildren, Becky (Shane) Reed, Alisha (Henry) Mulkey, Jay Odum, and Mandi (Jason) Ledbetter; seven great grandchildren, Dayne and Brady Reed, Iris, Eleanor, and Asa Mulkey, Hosanna and Joelle Ledbetter; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Honoring Natalie as pallbearers will be Steve Brown, Jay Odum, Shane Reed, Dayne Reed, Brady Reed, Bo McDonald, Darryl Dyess, and Clint Houston.

The family would like to express special thanks to Tammy, Robert, Raven, the staff and facility of Cypress Point Nursing and Rehab, Jennifer and staff at LifePath Hospice Care Services, Penny, Suzanne, and staff at Brookdale Senior Living, and Janis Love and Bro. Tommy Patton at Cypress Baptist Church.
