The Parkway Panthers rolled past the Woodlawn Knights 56-6 Friday night at Bobby Marlow Field at Preston Crownover Stadium.
Parkway improved to 2-0. Woodlawn dropped to 1-1.
All the scoring took place in the first half. A running clock was used in the second.
“We played a clean game,” Parkway Head Coach Coy Brotherton said. “I was proud of that. Executing and doing what you’re supposed to do is one thing. Just to play a penalty-free, mistake-free game other than just a couple of things here and there that are fixable. I was just pleased about that.”
Parkway senior quarterback Kaleb Williams completed 14-of-17 passes for 204 yards and five touchdowns with one interception.
Antonio Gladney had six catches for 82 yards and two touchdowns. Gary Burney had six for 75 and two TDs.
Draiden Davis and AJ Johnson also had touchdown catches. Johnson also had a touchdown run. Backup quarterback Braylon Washington threw a touchdown pass.
“Kaleb Williams threw the ball well again,” Brotherton said. “That was nice to be able to get him back out there healthy this year.”
Williams missed more than half of last season with an injury. Brotherton also praised the play of Gladney.
The Panthers had 173 yards rushing. Damian Decaldecal had a team-high 61 on five carries. He scored one TD. Kai Ray had 46 on five.
Gabe Gray kicked six extra points.
The Parkway defense had multiple sacks. Rod Johnson led the team with 3.5.
Colby Lee had 1.5. He also led the Panthers in total tackles with eight.
“I know we had a bunch of sacks tonight,”Brotherton said. “Rod Johnson had a great game there at defensive end for us. It felt like he had a lot of big plays in the backfield.”
Johnson, JP McGovern and KJ Burts forced fumbles. Ravion Poland and Kaden Pugh recovered one each.
About two dozen Panthers recorded tackles.
