The Bossier Chamber of Commerce continued its Public Policy Series on Monday, October 20, with guest speaker Adam Knapp, Chief Executive Officer of Leaders for a Better Louisiana. The event, presented by Willis Knighton Health, provided Chamber members and local leaders with a deeper understanding of Louisiana’s legislative and economic policy landscape.
Knapp, who previously served as President and CEO of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber (BRAC) and as CEO of the Committee of 100 for Economic Development (C100), shared insights drawn from decades of experience in economic strategy, regional growth, and policy reform. Under his leadership, BRAC’s initiatives helped secure major economic development wins and policy advancements that strengthened the Capital Region’s position as one of Louisiana’s top-performing economies.
During Monday’s session, Knapp discussed the work of Leaders for a Better Louisiana, a statewide, nonpartisan organization of business executives focused on fostering innovation, economic competitiveness, and good governance. Speaking from the perspective of a non-elected official, Knapp emphasized the importance of private-sector leadership and collaboration in driving Louisiana’s progress.
“Adam Knapp was formerly the President of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber and a mentor of mine, so I’m grateful that he takes the time to visit Northwest Louisiana as often as he does,” said Lisa Johnson, President and CEO of the Bossier Chamber of Commerce. “He’s truly one of the people getting things done in our state. With Leaders for a Better Louisiana, we’re moving Louisiana forward.”
The Public Policy Series is designed to connect Bossier Chamber members with key federal and state officials — and, as with Knapp’s presentation, non-government leaders who play a major role in shaping Louisiana’s policies and future. The series provides educational opportunities for business leaders to better understand how legislation and fiscal strategies impact their communities and industries.
Remaining events in the Chamber’s Public Policy Series include:
October 27: State of Workforce & Economic Development with Secretary Susana Schowen and Tedra Cheatham, CEcD, Executive Director of LED Fast Start.
The Chamber expressed appreciation to its sponsors for making the series possible, including presenting sponsor Willis Knighton Health and supporting sponsors Barksdale Federal Credit Union, Expand Energy, Ochsner LSU Health, and Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Homes.
