ConnectLA joined the Bossier Parish community today to celebrate a broadband expansion project bringing reliable, high-speed internet to hundreds of locations across the parish.
Supported by Louisiana’s GUMBO 1.0 program and delivered by Optimum, the project provides access to 686 households and 58 businesses throughout Bossier Parish, enhancing digital infrastructure in communities that previously lacked dependable connectivity.
The project in Bossier Parish marks another important milestone in Louisiana’s commitment to expanding broadband access to all unserved and underserved communities.
“Louisiana is working diligently to close the digital divide in our communities,” said Gov. Jeff Landry. “This expansion ensures that Bossier Parish is on track to give rural communities the tools they need to succeed and continue to develop. By expanding reliable broadband access and investing in modern infrastructure, the state aims to ensure that residents in underserved areas have access to essential digital resources.”
Local legislators emphasized the importance of reliable, high-speed connectivity in these areas, especially for communities that have lacked access previously.
“Families, students and employees in Bossier Parish deserve the opportunity to have reliable access to resources like remote work, education and telehealth services,” said state Rep. Wayne McMahen. “This expansion is a great step toward ensuring that rural Louisiana communities have the same opportunities as anywhere else in the state.”
“Bossier Parish is constantly developing, and this project brings meaningful change to the community,” said state Sen. Adam Bass. “Bringing access to hundreds of locations in Bossier Parish, this project reflects continued progress that will serve the community for years to come.”
State leaders and Optimum highlighted the impact this project has on improving connectivity, increasing access to essential services and supporting long-term growth in Bossier Parish and surrounding areas.
“This project creates a practical long-term investment opportunity for Bossier residents,” said Veneeth Iyengar, executive director of ConnectLA. “Our approach is centered on execution, which involves getting infrastructure in the ground and delivering reliable service to communities as quickly and efficiently as possible. We are working to ensure that every region in the state has the connectivity needed to develop and thrive.”
“At Optimum, we’re committed to connecting communities and powering progress through reliable, high-speed internet,” said Sean O’Connell, senior vice president and regional general manager at Optimum. “We are proud to partner with state and local leaders to bring advanced broadband to Bossier Parish — supporting businesses, students and families while helping bridge the digital divide. Our network investment reflects our continued commitment to expanding opportunity and strengthening the communities we serve.”
Louisiana continues to move closer to full broadband coverage across the state through the completion of projects like this.
