The Parkway Lady Panthers and Haughton Lady Bucs will seed spots in the non-select Division I semifinals Thursday night.

Both will be at home. Two-time defending state champion Parkway (27-4), the No. 1 seed, hosts No. 8 Denham Springs (23-9). Haughton (27-5), the No. 5 seed, hosts No. 5 Barbe (31-3). Both games tip off at 6.

The winners will play each other in the semifinals next week at the state tournament, also known as LHSAA Marsh Madness, in Hammond.

Parkway is looking for its fourth straight trip to Hammond. The game is a rematch of last year’s state championship game won by Parkway 57-29.

The Lady Panthers and Lady Jackets also met early this season. Parkway won 50-18 in the Natchitoches Central tournament Nov. 25.

Denham Springs won the District 5-5A championship, defeating No. 2 seed Walker 60-50 in the process.

The Lady Jackets defeated No. 25 Prairieville 71-39 in the first round of the playoffs and No. 9 Slidell 54-36 in the second.

Parkway routed No. 17 Thibodaux 57-17 on Monday after receiving a first-round bye.

Haughton is in the quarterfinals for the second straight year. The Lady Bucs lost to Walker 74-33 on the road last year.

Barbe and Haughton met in the second round in 2023 in Lake Charles. Barbe won 57-50.

Barbe, whose nickname is also Lady Bucs, lost to Slidell 63-62 in the first-round last season.

Barbe has been mostly winning this season. The Lady Bucs defeated No. 28 Ruston 66-32 in the first round and No. 12 Northshore 71-57 in the second.

Senior Mia Colston hit eight 3-pointers against Northshore.

Barbe’s only regular-season losses were to Southern Lab 63-43 on Dec. 5, Lafayette Christian 67-47 on Dec. 17 and Sulphur 39-37 on Jan. 24. Barbe shared the District 3-5A title with Sulphur and Lafayette High.

Sulphur and Lafayette are still in the playoffs. The Lady Bucs have won 11 in a row since losing to Sulphur.

Haughton defeated No. 13 Destrehan 58-54 in the second round on Monday after receiving a first-round bye.
