The Gingerbread House Children’s Advocacy Center held its Multidisciplinary Team Awards ceremony on Thursday, January 23, 2025, recognizing individuals and organizations who have made significant contributions to the fight against child abuse and trafficking. The event took place at the Bossier Sheriff’s Substation on Viking Drive, highlighting the center’s mission to support child victims and hold perpetrators accountable.

The center honored Victim Assistance Program Director Leone Fitzgerald, of the 1st Judicial District, as the Multidisciplinary Team Member of the Year. Fitzgerald was recognized for her outstanding dedication to ensuring children and families receive critical support during investigations and legal proceedings.

Detective Ronald Glovier of the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office received the Spirit of Jacob Bergren Award, which commemorates the qualities exemplified by the late Jacob Bergren, a Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office investigator who passed away in 2020. The award recognizes law enforcement members who go above and beyond to advocate for child victims and their families.

Rosie’s Beauty Operators was named Community Partner of the Year for their ongoing volunteer efforts and support of the Gingerbread House’s mission. Their contributions underscore the importance of community involvement in addressing and preventing child abuse.

In 2024, the Gingerbread House provided comprehensive services to 884 children, conducting an average of 74 forensic interviews per month. The center also assisted 179 victims of child sex trafficking and provided counseling services to 217 child victims and their caregivers. Furthermore, 46,531 individuals participated in prevention education sessions aimed at reducing child abuse and exploitation.

These accomplishments are made possible through the generosity of donors, ensuring that all services are offered free of charge to child victims and their families.

The awards ceremony served as a reminder of the collaborative efforts required to combat child abuse, with law enforcement, advocacy professionals, and community partners working together to provide care and seek justice for vulnerable children.
