Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB) and the Office of the Lieutenant Governor are pleased to share that the Litter Free Louisiana Youth Activity Book, designed by Innovative Advertising, won a Gold Addy Award in the category of Print Advertising – Branded Content and Entertainment at the 2025 New Orleans Chapter of the American Advertising Awards.
“KLB’s free educational resources for youth prepare students to be environmental stewards and future community leaders,” said Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser. “The Litter Free Louisiana Activity Book is a beautiful book featuring animal characters that make learning fun. Congratulations to Keep Louisiana Beautiful on earning a Gold Addy Award.”
“It is our responsibility to prepare our children for the future they will inherit, and this includes providing education focused on environmental stewardship,” said Susan Russell, KLB Executive Director. “The Litter Free Louisiana Activity Book includes activities inspiring reflection, problem-solving, and creativity. I encourage formal and non-formal educators to visit our website to download or order free copies.”
The Litter Free Louisiana Activity Youth Book features Rocksey the Raccoon, Timmy the Turtle, Pete the Pelican, and Allie the Alligator. These characters teach youth about litter, waste, recycling, reducing, reusing, and best practices for keeping Louisiana clean and beautiful.
KLB provides resources to support educators in their efforts to teach students the importance of caring for the environment. Environmental literacy is of particular importance in Louisiana. With the state positioned at the mouth of the Mississippi River, the environment is extremely vulnerable to the toxic runoff, litter, and debris draining from over 30 U.S. states.
The activity book along with lessons for grades K-5 in alignment with student standards are available for free at KeepLouisianaBeautiful.org. Many schools will utilize these resources during our state’s largest litter cleanup and beautification initiative, Love the Boot Week, scheduled for April 5-13.
